Rico began his career as a philosophy teacher before transitioning into finance, working at Asia Equity and later Cazenove in Hong Kong. In 2003, he returned to the Philippines to co-found Information Gateway, a pioneering mobile content company. Since 2009, he has focused on growing the social enterprise sector, co-founding xchange together with his wife in 2011. Rico holds a degree in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University and brings deep experience in investment, mentorship, and scaling impact-driven businesses.
